Ian teaches Highland pipes, Northumbrian smallpipes, Scottish smallpipes and uilleann pipes both to individuals and groups.

Individual lessons are given at home in Sammamish WA, and are tailored to the needs and goals of the pupil. Pupils have ranged in age from eight to sixty years old and Ian works to bring the best from his students.

Group lessons are normally part of a larger piping event such as the North Hero Pipers Gathering, such as the workshop pictured, which includes pupils from Northumberland, UK (Maureen Davison), the USA (Sheila Bridges, John LeValley) and Canada (Jim MacGillivray).
